Frankfort Convention Center, Convention center in Frankfort, Kentucky, US
The Frankfort Convention Center was a multi-purpose venue with a main hall of about 10,000 square feet and an arena seating approximately 5,000 people. It also featured around 17,000 square feet of exhibition space for different types of events.
The building opened in the 1970s as the Farnham Dudgeon Civic Center and served the community for decades. It was demolished in spring 2018 as part of a larger redevelopment project in the Capital Plaza area.
The center served as a gathering place where locals attended sporting events, concerts, and trade shows that shaped community life. These occasions brought people together throughout the year for entertainment and local commerce.
The facility offered about 2,000 parking spaces for visitors arriving by car. A pedestrian walkway connected it directly to Historic Downtown Frankfort and the nearby Capital Plaza Hotel area.
In January 1999, the arena hosted a major wrestling championship event that was not broadcast on television. This unrecorded moment remains a curious footnote in the venue's entertainment history.
