The Fresh Pond Hotel stands as a three-story wooden structure at 234 Lakeview Avenue, featuring Federal and Greek Revival architectural elements.
Jacob Wyeth, a Harvard graduate of 1792, constructed the hotel in 1796 on an 8-acre parcel bordering Fresh Pond as a summer resort.
The building transformed from a hotel to a convent in 1886, reflecting the changing social patterns of Cambridge through the nineteenth century.
The hotel structure relocated from its original Fresh Pond location to Lakeview Avenue in 1892, where it continues to stand today.
The property remained under Jacob Wyeth's management until he accumulated sufficient wealth to transfer operations to his nephew Jonas around 1840.
