Fort Pitt Museum

Fort Pitt Museum sits at the meeting of three rivers in Pittsburgh and features exhibits about the British fort built here in 1758. The building is a reconstructed bastion of the original fort and holds displays on early European settlement and regional conflicts in Pennsylvania.

The original fort was built in 1758 after British forces defeated the French at Fort Duquesne and took control of this strategic river location. It became a key point in the expansion of British territory and the development of Pittsburgh as a settlement.

The exhibits document interactions between European settlers, Native American peoples, and military forces during the formation of early Pittsburgh and the surrounding region.
