Foxfire Botanical Gardens, Botanical and philosophical gardens in Marshfield, Wisconsin, United States.
Foxfire Botanical Gardens was a botanical and philosophical garden in Marshfield, Wisconsin, spreading across around 15 acres. About 7 acres featured European topiary designs and Japanese garden layouts, displaying different design styles side by side.
The gardens were established in 1983 and received official botanical garden recognition from Wisconsin in 2003 after meeting specific collection and community program requirements. Operations ended in 2009 following legal proceedings against the owners.
The gardens blended Eastern and Western design approaches through separate sections that featured Japanese gardens next to European layouts. This combination let visitors experience different cultural views on garden design in one place.
The site offered educational programs about horticulture and plant species before closing in 2009. Visitors should know the grounds are no longer open to the public.
The garden deliberately integrated philosophical elements into the botanical experience, creating spaces for both plant study and quiet reflection. This blend of scientific interest and contemplative design was a distinctive feature of the place.
