Frog Baby Fountain, Bronze fountain at Ball State University, United States.
Frog Baby Fountain is a bronze sculpture at Ball State University depicting a small girl holding two frogs. The work is surrounded by water spouts and decorative frog figures, and sits near Bracken Library on the university grounds.
The sculpture was created in 1937 by artist Edith Barretto Stevens Parsons. Frank C. Ball donated the work to the university as a gift to contribute to the campus community.
Students at the university developed a tradition of touching the statue's nose for good luck before exams. Over time, this practice became so widespread that the bronze figure needed restoration work.
The fountain is fully wheelchair accessible and monitored by security cameras. You can visit it anytime since it sits on the publicly accessible university grounds.
During winter months, students dress the bronze figure in scarves and hats according to the weather. This informal custom shows how the sculpture has become part of student community life.
