Fort Heath, Sea fort in Winthrop, Massachusetts, US
Fort Heath stands on a coastal location with three gun emplacements designed for 12-inch artillery pieces protecting Boston and Winthrop harbors.
Constructed in 1898 during the Endicott modernization period, Fort Heath remained active until 1966 as part of the Harbor Defenses of Boston.
The fort represents an important example of American coastal defense architecture, featuring military engineering techniques from the late 19th century.
Visitors can now access Small Park, which contains a commemorative wall and historical marker detailing the fort's military significance.
The site transformed from a military installation into the Fort Heath Apartments while maintaining elements of its defense heritage.
