Revere Beach, Public beach in Suffolk County, United States.
Revere Beach is a wide sandy shoreline in Suffolk County stretching about 3 miles (5 kilometers) along the Atlantic coast. A continuous pathway runs parallel to the water offering views of the bay and open ocean.
Landscape architect Charles Eliot planned this coastal stretch in the late 19th century as the nation's first public bathing beach. The site later received National Historic Landmark recognition for its role in public open space development.
The public beachfront attracts families and groups from spring through fall who come to swim, relax, and stroll along the oceanfront. Traditional small food stands line the coastal road selling grilled seafood and homemade ice cream.
Two subway stops on the Blue Line sit within walking distance of the sand. Fee parking is available for up to four hours along the beachfront road.
During spring nesting season parts of the shoreline close to visitors protecting Piping Plovers that nest in shallow depressions in the sand. Volunteers mark these areas with barriers and monitor the nesting sites.
