Glendola Reservoir, body of water
Glendola Reservoir is a man-made lake in the Glendola section of Wall Township in Monmouth County, built to store water for local communities. Water drawn from the Shark River and Manasquan River through a pumping system fills the reservoir, which then supplies water to the Swimming River Reservoir for treatment and distribution.
The reservoir was built in 1965 to address water supply needs in the growing Monmouth County region. Its construction represented a significant expansion of local water infrastructure, enabling reliable supply even during dry seasons.
The reservoir is closed to the public and cannot be entered, as it is a protected water supply facility. Visitors may observe it from a distance or designated viewpoints only, without approaching the water.
Water is not treated at this reservoir itself but is pumped directly to Swimming River Reservoir, where a separate treatment process occurs. This makes Glendola purely a storage facility without on-site treatment.
