Greensburg Downtown Historic District, Historic district in downtown Greensburg, Pennsylvania, US.
Greensburg Downtown Historic District is an area with 62 buildings spread between Tunnel Street, Main Street, Third Street, and Harrison Avenue in central Greensburg. The buildings house the Westmoreland County Courthouse, offices, retail spaces, and senior housing in renovated historic structures.
The Masonic Temple Building at 132 South Main Street dates from 1872 and is the district's oldest structure, featuring an Italianate cast iron facade. Its construction marked the start of the large-scale development that shaped Greensburg's center.
The Palace Theatre on West Otterman Street remains an active venue for performances and artistic events where visitors can watch theater, music, and shows. The stage continues to draw audiences and shapes the cultural life of the downtown area.
Visitors can explore the area on foot and observe the different building types and their uses as they walk. The streets offer good walking conditions, and the central location makes it easy to reach all key points by walking.
The former Troutman's Department Store at 202-226 South Main Street was the only downtown building with escalators in its six-story structure. This feature made it a notable shopping destination in the area.
