Greater Grand Forks Greenway

The Greater Grand Forks Greenway is a network of paved paths that runs along waterways and connects parks and natural areas throughout the region. The system includes multiple trail sections with varying landscapes and offers opportunities for walking, biking, and exploring local ecosystems.

This greenway was created following the major flood event of 1997 as part of a comprehensive flood control system designed to protect the surrounding region. The project represented a major recovery effort that transformed the landscape and served as a safeguard for future protection.

The greenway links neighborhoods with schools and business districts while providing spaces where residents gather for sports, community events, and outdoor recreation. Walking paths bring people together across the region in a shared natural setting.

Several access points are distributed throughout the greenway, each with parking facilities, restrooms, and picnic areas for visitor convenience. The paths are suitable for different activity levels and accessibility needs, with easy navigation from multiple starting locations.

The Lincoln Golf Course located within the greenway was once the first golf course in North Dakota and now operates as a nine-hole layout. This historic course represents an early recreation tradition that visitors can still experience today.
