Gresham Motorsports Park, motorsports venue in the United States
Gresham Motorsports Park is a paved oval track in Jefferson, Georgia, running just under half a mile in length with four banked turns set at 12 degrees. The grandstand faces the straightaways and can hold around 4,000 spectators, giving most of the crowd a clear view of the full circuit.
The track opened in 1967 as Jefco Speedway and quickly became a stop on the NASCAR Grand National Series, drawing top drivers of that era. Over the following decades it changed hands and names several times, becoming Gresham Motorsports Park in 2009 before closing in 2014.
For many locals in Jackson County, the track has long been a gathering place where families come together around the shared love of oval racing. The roar of engines and the smell of burning rubber are part of a ritual that generations of fans in this part of Georgia grew up with.
The track is in Jefferson, about an hour northeast of Atlanta, and is most easily reached by car via Interstate 85. On race days the parking area and stands fill up fast, so arriving well ahead of the first event gives you time to settle in and find a good spot.
The track was used as a filming location for the 1982 film Six Pack, starring Kenny Rogers, with local teenagers from the Jefferson area cast as extras in the crowd scenes. Despite closing in 2014, the venue reopened briefly in 2020 for a single race event, drawing fans who had not seen racing there in years.
