Gresham Motorsports Park, motorsports venue in the United States
Gresham Motorsports Park is a paved oval racing track in Georgia that is half a mile long with four turns and seating for about 4,000 spectators. The track features 12-degree banking in the curves, which allows cars to maintain speed through the turns.
The track opened in 1967 and was originally known as Jefco Speedway before taking on various names including Peach State Speedway and Georgia International Speedway. In the late 1960s it hosted NASCAR Grand National Series races featuring drivers like Cale Yarborough and Bobby Isaac.
The track has carried different names throughout its history, from Jefco Speedway to Peach State Speedway, before becoming Gresham Motorsports Park in 2009. These name changes reflect how the venue has evolved and adapted within the local community over the decades.
The track is easily accessible from Atlanta by taking Interstate 85 North to Exit 140, then following local roads to the facility. The stands fill quickly on race days, so arriving early is advisable if you want a good spot to watch the races. Wear comfortable clothing and bring protection from the sun and wind.
The venue served as a filming location for the 1982 movie Six Pack, with local teenagers from Jefferson appearing as extras in the production. Though the track closed in 2014, it briefly reopened in 2020 for a single race event, bringing back memories for longtime fans.
