Hanover Bridge is a metal pin-connected Pratt truss structure spanning the Crow River between Wright and Hennepin Counties. The roadbed measures about 15 feet wide, and the entire structure now serves only foot traffic.
The structure was built in 1885 by the Morse Bridge Company of Youngstown and remains among the oldest Pratt truss bridges still standing in Minnesota. It gained recognition on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 for its engineering importance.
The bridge received recognition on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 for its engineering excellence and transportation significance in Wright County.
This structure now serves only pedestrians, with a modern concrete bridge located about 1,500 feet to the east handling all vehicle traffic. Crossing takes just a few minutes and presents no difficulty.
School buses once had to drop off passengers before crossing due to weight restrictions on the structure. They would pick students up again after completing the slow journey across.
