Harand Camp of the Theatre Arts, Theatre arts summer camp in Kenosha, United States.
Harand Camp of the Theatre Arts is a residential camp located on Carthage College campus in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The grounds include dormitory housing with views of Lake Michigan and a 400-seat professional theater for student productions.
The camp was founded in 1955 by Sulie and Pearl Harand along with their husbands Byron and Sam, beginning with 87 campers. The program expanded to 250 participants within the first three years, reflecting rapid growth and community interest.
The camp weaves musical theater into its foundation while keeping connections to outdoor and social activities. Participants stay in cabin groups named after famous musicals and movies, which creates a sense of community throughout the summer.
Campers ages 7 to 18 can register for sessions lasting one to six weeks and attend daily theater classes. The program offers three time slots for elective courses, allowing participants to choose the classes that interest them most.
The camp operates on an alternating A-Days and B-Days schedule, allowing campers to take six different self-selected classes during their stay. This system maximizes exposure to different activities and prevents any one class from becoming overcrowded.
