Honus Wagner, Bronze baseball statue at PNC Park, Pittsburgh, US
The 8-foot bronze sculpture depicts the legendary shortstop Honus Wagner in his batting stance, showcasing his distinctive playing position at the baseball field.
Frank Vittor created the monument in 1955 as a tribute to the Pittsburgh Pirates player, initially placing it at Forbes Field before its relocation to Three Rivers Stadium.
The monument represents the first inductee of the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1936, who earned eight batting titles during his career with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Visitors can find the statue at the home plate entrance of PNC Park, where numerous baseball fans gather to take photographs before Pirates games.
Inside the base of the statue lies a sealed tube containing names of Pirates players who contributed to its creation during the 1955 dedication ceremony.
