Hotel Roosevelt

Hotel Roosevelt is a 12-story brick building with Regency-style ornamentation, including medallions, garlanded panels, and decorative finials along the roofline. The structure features a mix of large windows and ornamental details that define its exterior appearance.

The building was constructed in 1927 as Cedar Rapids' leading hotel and received National Register of Historic Places designation in 1991. By 2015, it became part of the city's Central Business District Commercial Historic District.

The interior features Italian Renaissance design elements that reflect early 20th century tastes and social standards of the time. Walking through the spaces today, you can see how these details shaped the experience of guests and visitors in that era.

After major renovations following the 2008 Cedar River flood, the building now contains 96 apartment units with commercial spaces on the ground level. The downtown location provides easy access to nearby shops and local services.

The building was completely transformed after the 2008 flood and now serves as residential apartments instead of a traditional hotel. The conversion carefully preserved the historic exterior details while modernizing the interior for contemporary living.
