Hyannis Armory, Military building in Hyannis, Massachusetts.
The Hyannis Armory spans 20,000 square feet at 225 South Street, featuring characteristic elements of mid-20th century military architecture.
Built in 1958 by Walter Gaffney Associates, this National Guard facility gained national recognition when John F. Kennedy delivered his presidential victory speech in 1960.
The Massachusetts National Guard Armory housed Battery D of the 685th AAA Machine Gun Battalion and served as a central military installation until 2005.
The Town of Barnstable currently maintains the facility for storage purposes, with plans to transform it into a Health Division Office.
During Kennedy's victory speech at the armory, he mentioned receiving congratulations from President Eisenhower and preparing for both a new administration and child.
