Perry Belmont House, Beaux-Arts mansion in Dupont Circle, United States.
Perry Belmont House is a stone mansion featuring Ionic pilasters and a rusticated basement along New Hampshire Avenue. The building displays a pavilion form with elegant architectural details in the Beaux-Arts style.
The building was constructed between 1907 and 1909 as a private residence for Congressman Perry Belmont. Over the 20th century it became the headquarters of the Order of the Eastern Star, an international organization with members around the world.
The mansion functioned as a winter social hub in the early 1900s, welcoming prominent visitors from European royal families. Today the interior decoration tells the story of the social circles that gathered here during that era.
The property is located in the Dupont Circle neighborhood and is today accessible as an organizational headquarters. Visits by appointment allow you to explore the rooms while observing the historical furnishings and decorative elements.
One room inside is the Venetian Dining Room, which contains five ceiling paintings depicting heroines from the organization's history. The room also holds a teakwood screen that was gifted by an imperial court from Asia.
