Jaite Mill Historic District, Industrial heritage district in Cuyahoga Valley, United States.
Jaite Mill Historic District is an early-20th-century industrial settlement in Cuyahoga Valley with worker housing, a dormitory, shop, post office, and railroad station spread across roughly 30 acres. The buildings document the infrastructure needed to support a factory community.
Jaite Paper Company was established in 1905 and expanded into one of the largest multi-wall paper producers in the country by the late 1920s. The facility shaped the region until its closure in the mid-20th century.
The worker settlement reflects how mill employees and their families built community life around the factory, with homes and shops supporting daily routines. The site shows how an industrial village functioned as a self-contained social world.
The site functions today as part of Cuyahoga Valley National Park and provides starting points for hiking into the surrounding landscape. Visitors can explore the historic buildings while accessing trails that connect through the valley.
The mill developed underground water wells on site when a nearby creek could not supply enough water for paper production needs. These artesian sources allowed the factory to operate independently from river supply constraints.
