John Hendricks House and Dutch Barn

The John Hendricks House is a rectangular stone structure with two stories and five bays, topped with a gabled roof supported by four brick chimneys. The adjoining barn building displays late 18th-century construction methods with later architectural additions.

The house was built in 1785 along the Albany Post Road and originally served as an inn for travelers. It was added to the National Register in 1984, marking its recognition as historically important.

The house preserves original Federal-style mantels and a center-hall floor plan that show how early American settlers lived and built their homes. These architectural choices reflect the daily life and preferences of the people who occupied this place.

The property sits on a large lot bordered by Old Post Road, US Route 9, and Hughes Avenue, with views toward the adjacent Margaret Lewis Norrie State Park. Visitors can explore both the house and barn while enjoying the surrounding countryside.
