Built in 1879, the house was relocated in 1997 from its original location between Wilkinson and Willow Branch to 400 Railroad Street in Shirley, Indiana.
The construction demonstrates the architectural innovation of the 1870s with its octagonal design, which provided more living space and natural light than traditional layouts.
The house underwent modifications during relocation, with chimneys rebuilt from the attic floor to accommodate modern utilities while maintaining the external appearance.
Jane Ross Reeves paid for the entire construction, which cost between 2300 and 2500 dollars, using silver dollars she had collected in a shoe box.
