The Maryland Theatre features a classical design with two seating levels accommodating 1,293 guests in its carefully preserved auditorium and stage area.
Built in 1915 by architect Thomas Lamb, the theater survived a 1974 fire that affected parts of the building while leaving the main stage intact.
The Maryland Theatre hosts over 250 annual events including symphony orchestra performances, ballet productions, theatrical shows, and educational programs throughout the year.
The 2019 expansion added 35,000 square feet of event space across five levels, including a ballroom, rehearsal studio, and meeting facilities.
The theater functions as the centerpiece of Hagerstown's Arts District, welcoming more than 100,000 visitors annually through its ornate entrance on Potomac Street.
