Metro Beach Metropark

Metro Beach Metropark is a large recreational area stretching across 770 acres along Lake St. Clair with a marina, golf course, and nature center. The site includes extensive walking trails, sports courts, and an Olympic-size swimming pool with water features.

The facility was established in 1950 as part of the Huron-Clinton Metroparks system to expand recreational opportunities in the region. Its development reflected efforts to preserve lakefront access for communities in Southeast Michigan.

This place serves as a natural refuge where visitors observe native animals and learn about the local ecosystem through guided programs. The boardwalk along the water creates a space where the community gathers to connect with nature.

Multiple sports facilities are scattered across the grounds including basketball courts, tennis courts, and volleyball areas that remain accessible year-round. Winter months bring ice skating and skiing opportunities, making the site useful in all seasons.

A 1,600-foot boardwalk extends along the lake edge offering close-up views of the water and a direct connection to the shoreline. This pathway becomes particularly special in winter when the frozen lake transforms the scenery.
