Memorial Bridge, Road bridge in Parkersburg, United States.
The Memorial Bridge spans approximately 2,555 feet (778 meters) across the Ohio River, connecting Parkersburg in West Virginia with Belpre in Ohio. The structure uses a cantilevered Warren through truss design with two traffic lanes.
Construction was completed in 1954 and introduced an innovative cantilevered truss design that fundamentally changed regional transportation connections. The project arose from the need of both communities to establish better road links across the river.
The bridge links two states and enables daily interactions between people from West Virginia and Ohio. It has become part of how both communities see themselves as interconnected neighbors.
Electronic tolling systems accept E-ZPass and MovPass transponders, allowing drivers to pass through without stopping. A monthly subscription option for standard vehicles provides unlimited crossings at a flat rate.
The bridge deck was historically open to pedestrians, offering a rare option to cross the river on foot. This feature set it apart from many other modern river crossings in the region.
