Memorial Field, Football stadium in Hanover, US
Memorial Field is a football stadium in Hanover, New Hampshire, on the campus of Dartmouth College along Crosby Street. The playing surface is artificial turf enclosed by an eight-lane running track, with concrete seating and a press box along the main stand.
The stadium was established in 1893 and was later dedicated as a memorial to students and alumni who served in World War I. Permanent seating was added over the course of the 20th century to accommodate a growing number of spectators.
Memorial Field is the home ground of the Dartmouth Big Green football team, drawing students, alumni, and local residents on game days. The energy on those afternoons reflects a long-standing college tradition that ties the campus community together around sport.
The stadium is easy to reach on foot from the Dartmouth campus, with parking available along Crosby Street. Since the venue is fully open to the elements, checking the weather beforehand and dressing accordingly makes a visit much more comfortable.
Although the stadium was founded in 1893, it did not get its current artificial turf surface until the 2006 renovation. That change allowed the field to be used throughout the year, even during the harsh winters that are common in New Hampshire.
