The venue hosted the Kansas City Blues minor league team, the Negro League Kansas City Monarchs, and Jackie Robinson played there in 1945.
Municipal Stadium served multiple sports, with a baseball configuration of 17,476 seats and an expanded football layout accommodating up to 35,561 spectators.
The stadium hosted the longest NFL game in history, lasting 82 minutes during a 1971 playoff match between Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins.
