Morrison-Rockwood State Park, State park in Whiteside County, United States.
Morrison-Rockwood State Park is a state park with about 1,164 acres of forests and recreation areas in Whiteside County. Lake Carlton forms the central feature, surrounded by trails and picnic grounds.
The park opened in 1971, with Lake Carlton created two years earlier by building an earthen dam. This infrastructure made the space possible as a recreation destination.
The park takes its name from nearby Morrison city and the Rockwood forest area, reflecting local geography. These names connect the space to the surrounding communities and their heritage.
The park offers about 92 campsites with electrical hookups and multiple picnic areas with tables and grills. About 14 miles of trails are available for walking in different seasons.
Lake Carlton was named after L. Carlton Anderson, a regional conservation leader who supported the park through civic efforts. His involvement was key to making this recreation space a reality.
