Old Bacon Academy, Historical education building in Colchester, Connecticut, US.
The Old Bacon Academy features a three-story Flemish bond brick structure measuring 70 feet long by 34 feet wide with 26 windows arranged in nine bays.
Constructed in 1803 following Pierpont Bacon's bequest, the academy initially served as a white male school before integrating nonwhite students in 1833 and women in 1842.
The academy educated notable figures including Edwin Denison Morgan and William A. Buckingham while maintaining its role as a center for community education and events.
Located at 84 Main Street in Colchester, the building currently operates as part of an alternative education program, with Day Hall serving as a nursery school.
The building's annual operational costs range from $25,000 to $28,000, partially funded through rental income from the Board of Education.
