Devil's Hopyard State Park, State park with waterfall in East Haddam, United States.

Devil's Hopyard State Park contains Chapman Falls, which cascades over sixty feet of rock formations along the Eightmile River through Connecticut woodlands.

The park gained protection status in 1919, transforming from private lands with farming and quarry operations into a natural recreation destination.

The park name originates from local folklore suggesting the cylindrical holes in rocks were created by Satan's tail getting wet.

Visitors can access 21 camping sites from April through October, with separate pricing for Connecticut residents and out-of-state guests.

Natural geological formations include cylindrical potholes created by stones trapped in water eddies, forming depressions through continuous erosion.
