The Department of Veterans Affairs established this cemetery in 2000 as the second national cemetery in Ohio and the 119th in the national system.
The cemetery honors military service members through 139 memorials that commemorate events and troops from twentieth-century military engagements.
The administrative office operates Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, while the grounds remain accessible from sunrise to sunset daily.
In 2022, the cemetery expanded by purchasing Rawiga Country Club, adding 150 acres to reach a total area of 423 acres.
