Pfarr Log House, Historic log house in Clermont County, United States.
The Pfarr Log House is a one-and-a-half-story building with square-cut timber walls joined using saddle notching and topped with a metal roof. The structure was moved from its original location in 1910 and later relocated again near Milford, maintaining its historical registration.
The structure dates to around 1825 and was purchased in 1840 by George Pfarr, a Bavarian immigrant, as part of a larger homestead. His family maintained the property until 1976, representing the wave of German immigration to Ohio during the 1800s.
The house reflects how German settlers adapted their building traditions to new surroundings and community life in rural America. The construction methods visible here show how immigrants carried their skills and practices from home to establish new settlements.
The building is now located near Milford and can be viewed from outside, though interior access may be limited. Check with local authorities or historical organizations before planning a visit to confirm current conditions and availability.
The house was dismantled in 2007 and relocated to its current site, an unusual action for a registered historic property. This relocation represents a rare approach to preservation by moving rather than maintaining the original location.
