Piatt Castles, Gothic houses in Logan County, Ohio, United States.

Piatt Castles consists of two three-story houses with towers, built between the 1860s and 1870s in Logan County. Each structure features hand-painted ceilings, intricate carved woodwork, and elaborate interior decorations that showcase the owners' wealth and refined taste.

Brothers Donn and Abram Piatt, descendants of French Huguenots, built the castles after their family established itself in Logan County around 1828. Their wealth from farming and business ventures allowed them to construct these elaborate estates reflecting European architectural styles popular at the time.

The castles reflect their builders' passion for French and Italian design, visible in the decorated ceilings and ornate details throughout the rooms. Today the property hosts events and cultural gatherings where visitors experience how wealthy families lived during the 1800s.

The property welcomes visitors from April through October, with longer hours available during summer months. Wear comfortable walking shoes since the grounds are uneven and the historic houses contain many stairs.

One of the two houses contains a collection of rare Italian marble tiles and handcrafted ceramics the builders acquired during their travels to Europe. These personal treasures reveal how the family sought to bring Continental sophistication to the American frontier.
