Zane Shawnee Caverns, Natural cave system in Jefferson Township, Ohio, United States.
The cave network stretches 290 meters underground, featuring mineral formations, underground streams, and collections of cave pearls created by mineral-rich water deposits.
John Dunlap discovered the caverns in 1892 during a rescue mission of a boy and dog who had fallen into a sinkhole near the current entrance.
The United Remnant Band of the Shawnee Nation acquired the caverns in 1995, establishing a Native American museum to preserve their heritage and history.
The cave maintains regular visiting hours from Tuesday to Sunday in winter and daily from April to November, with adult admission at 11 dollars.
The cave system contains rare geological formations including natural cave pearls, claws, and specific mineral growth patterns found in few other locations.
