Indian Lake

Indian Lake covers 2,040 hectares (5,040 acres) of water in Logan County and features several small islands connected by natural channels and narrow inlets. The water sits in flat farmland and is bordered by thick reeds and scattered tree clusters along the shoreline.

In the 1850s Irish laborers built the dam and turned a small pond into a large reservoir that supplied water to the Miami and Erie Canal. The structure served the canal system for decades before later becoming a recreational area.

The Sandy Beach Amusement Park, operating from 1924 to 1975, featured a wooden roller coaster and the Minnewawa Dance Hall where orchestras performed regularly.

Several marinas along the shore rent boats and offer fishing gear along with basic supply stations for water sports. Those exploring on foot will find wide shoreline areas with direct water access and room for picnicking.

Beneath the surface lie remnants of old stone bridges and foundations from before the water was raised. These submerged structures now attract anglers because bass and other fish like to gather there.
