Logan County

Logan County spans west central Ohio and includes both agricultural areas and the county seat of Bellefontaine with its urban neighborhoods. The landscape is a mix of farms, small villages, and forest patches.

The county was established in 1817 and named after Benjamin Logan, an early settler who played a significant role in the region. Before European settlement, the area was inhabited by Native American groups.

The Dunns Pond mound near Huntsville represents significant Native American archaeological heritage, with evidence of Hopewell civilization settlements.

Bellefontaine sits on U.S. Routes 33 and 68, making it easy to reach and offering good connections to larger cities in the region. Most destinations throughout the county are readily accessible by car.

Campbell Hill marks the highest natural point in Ohio, giving visitors a remarkable geographic distinction in the region. The elevation and views from the summit make it an interesting destination for hikers and nature enthusiasts.
