Built in 1858, Providence Presbyterian Church represents the oldest remaining frame church from before the Civil War in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.
The cemetery grounds contain 1,252 memorials, including a separate section with white crosses marking the final resting place of enslaved individuals.
Located at 10140 Providence Church Road in Charlotte, the church maintains regular religious services while welcoming visitors to explore its historical grounds.
A preaching rock at the cemetery entrance served as the first pulpit, with nearby markers dating to before the American Revolutionary War.
