Railroad Square is a former industrial area with converted warehouse buildings from the World War II era, now housing art galleries, studios, shops, and cafes. The site features metal art sculptures and colorful murals painted on buildings and walls throughout the space.
The site originally housed a lumber company before the Boynton family purchased it in the 1950s and began transforming it into an arts center. That renovation project laid the foundation for the arts district that exists today.
This place has become a gathering point for local artists and creative people, with regular festivals and open art events happening throughout the year. Visitors can watch artists at work in their studios and talk directly with them about their creations.
The place is open Wednesday through Sunday and offers plenty of free parking for visitors. It is best to arrive during daytime hours to explore the studios and interact with artists.
A converted railroad caboose houses a restaurant and shows how the area creatively honors its industrial past. An outdoor art garden on the grounds hosts regular performances and gatherings throughout the year.
