Reston Station, Transit hub in Reston, Virginia, US
Reston Station is a mixed-use development in Reston, Virginia, that combines a 21-story residential tower, office buildings, and retail shops arranged around a public plaza. The complex sits above an underground Metro station and brings together living, working, and shopping in one location.
Development began in 2014 with an underground parking structure that started a major transformation in Northern Virginia toward transit-oriented growth. This project was part of a regional effort to link public transportation with new homes and office spaces.
The development integrates professional environments with residential spaces through carefully designed communal areas that connect different sections of the complex.
The site offers 2,300 parking spaces and a bus depot with direct access to the Silver Line Metro station beneath the plaza. Visitors can explore the area on foot, as the public plaza and different buildings connect easily with each other.
The office tower was designed by renowned architect Helmut Jahn and features an unusual design with X-shaped columns on its exterior. This construction creates the visual effect that building sections appear to float, a memorable feature of the development.
