Rock Creek State Park

Rock Creek State Park is a large recreation area in Iowa with a sizable lake and extensive outdoor facilities. The grounds feature boat docks, multiple launch points, and trails that spread throughout the property for hiking and other activities.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources created this recreation area in 1952 to provide public access to natural spaces. The development transformed the region into a destination for outdoor pursuits and community recreation.

The park maintains a close relationship with Grinnell College through a dedicated bike path that connects the two spaces. This link makes it a gathering place for students and faculty who use it regularly for recreation.

The park has 200 campsites available, including waterfront locations with modern restroom and shower facilities. Boat rentals are offered during the spring through fall months.

During winter the entire lake surface freezes solid, creating natural conditions for cross-country skiing and snowmobile riding. This seasonal transformation opens the park to completely different activities than the rest of the year.
