Roosevelt Park Zoo

Roosevelt Park Zoo is a facility in Minot that houses approximately 135 animals representing around 68 different species, including giraffes, lions, penguins, and Amur tigers. The grounds span multiple acres with pathways designed for visitors to observe the animals at different viewing points.

The facility was founded in 1914 and began with only small animals before acquiring its first large mammal in 1921. From that early starting point, the collection grew steadily and developed into a more comprehensive zoo.

A building from the zoo's earliest days still stands and now functions as an aviary, with its original architecture carefully kept intact. This makes it an interesting example of how historical structures continue to serve modern purposes within the facility.
