Riverview Park, Historical amusement park in Point Breeze, Baltimore, United States.
Riverview Park was an amusement complex in Point Breeze featuring water rides, a large roller coaster, and performance stages scattered across its grounds. The facility offered diverse entertainment options for visitors across its sprawling property.
The park opened in 1890 and operated until 1929, when Western Electric acquired the property at auction. The company then converted the site into an industrial manufacturing facility.
Composer Eubie Blake and lyricist Noble Sissle developed their songwriting partnership while employed at this park during the early 1900s. Their creative collaboration became an important part of Baltimore's musical legacy.
The original site off Broening Parkway no longer exists as it has been completely redeveloped into industrial buildings. Visitors interested in the park's history can explore archived photos and historical records to understand what once stood there.
The grounds served as a gathering place for Baltimore's Black community during an era when many public spaces were segregated. It provided a space where people could come together, enjoy music, and spend time with loved ones.
