Russell Theatre, Spanish Colonial Revival movie theater in Maysville, Kentucky.

The Russell Theatre features a Mediterranean garden interior design with 707 seats, two distinctive towers, and decorative wall niches throughout the auditorium.

Construction of the Russell Theatre began in 1928 with a $125,000 investment, opening its doors on December 4, 1930, with a screening of Eddie Cantor's Whoopee.

The theater hosted the 1953 world premiere of The Stars Are Singing, featuring Maysville native Rosemary Clooney, marking a significant moment for local entertainment.

Located at 9 East Third Street in Maysville, the theater requires between $2 million and $3.5 million for complete restoration of its architectural features.

The theater's original design included a projection system that displayed a rainbow over the stage at the conclusion of each film screening.
