Built in 1898 for $24,000 by the Washington Fire Company, this theater replaced an earlier opera house destroyed by fire on West Second Street.
The theater holds approximately 450 seats and serves as the permanent residence for the Maysville Players, one of Kentucky's oldest theater organizations.
Located at 116 West Second Street in downtown Maysville's shopping district, the venue maintains regular performance schedules throughout the year.
The structure stands as the first documented location of stage performances west of the Allegheny Mountains, with theater traditions dating to 1797.
