Sagamore Hill, Historic house in Cove Neck, US.
Sagamore Hill is a two-story Queen Anne style residence featuring multiple gables, a prominent turret, and native stone throughout its exterior. The architects Lamb and Rich designed the building in 1884, and it functioned as a family home for several decades.
The residence was designed in 1884 as a private home and later became a place where national and international matters were discussed. The site's importance grew with the political activities of its residents in the late 1800s and early 1900s.
The North Room addition transformed the residence into a diplomatic center where important conversations between world leaders took place. Visitors today see the spaces where international negotiations unfolded.
The site offers guided tours through the house along with walking trails accessible during daylight hours that connect different parts of the grounds. Visitors should know that the best views of the interior furnishings are available through guided visits.
The house contains 23 rooms filled with original furnishings, hunting trophies, and family artifacts brought back from travels around the world. This collection tells the story of personal experiences and adventures across multiple continents.
