Schuster Building

The Schuster Building sits at the corner of Bardstown Road and Eastern Parkway in Louisville's Highlands neighborhood, combining retail shops with office spaces. Its exterior displays Colonial Revival features with brick detailing, while the interior holds various commercial and professional tenants.

The building was designed in 1927 by the architectural firm Nevin, Wischmeyer & Morgan and reflects the Colonial Revival style of that era. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 because of its architectural value to the neighborhood.

The building takes its name from a shoe shop that once operated at street level. The mix of retail and office spaces shapes how people move through and use the neighborhood today.

The building is easily accessible from street level and provides parking on an adjacent lot. Visitors can enter ground-floor shops directly or use stairways and elevators to reach office areas.

The building once housed an entertainment venue that played a key role in Louisville's entertainment scene and operated until 1989. Its architectural style continues to influence the appearance of neighboring structures along the street.
