Seventeenth Church of Christ, Scientist, Modern church building at Wacker Drive and Wabash Avenue, Chicago, US
The Seventeenth Church of Christ, Scientist features a semicircular, two-tiered sanctuary with a conical roof and natural light entering through a skylight.
Built in 1968 by architect Harry Weese, the church received the 25 Year Award from the Chicago Chapter of the American Institute of Architects in 1996.
The church hosts Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concerts every Wednesday at 12:15pm, presenting classical music performances in the main auditorium.
The building contains 350 hidden microphones throughout the auditorium, enabling attendees to give testimonies without leaving their seats during services.
The structure includes a bridge over a sunken garden that leads to the entrance and provides access to an underground Sunday School facility.
