Page Brothers Building, Historic office building in Chicago, Illinois.

The Page Brothers Building is a five-story office structure featuring an ornate cast iron facade on North State Street in downtown Chicago. The front displays decorative details and tall windows that bring light into the interior spaces.

Architect John M. Van Osdel designed this structure after the 1871 Great Chicago Fire, choosing cast iron as the primary material for the front. The choice reflected new demands for fire-resistant construction following the devastating blaze.

The building shows how Chicago's business district shifted from the lakefront to State Street in the late 1800s. Its design reflects changing priorities in the growing city's commercial life.

The building sits in Chicago's Loop area and is easy to reach while exploring downtown. You can view the impressive facade from the street and take time to examine the architectural details from the outside.

This structure holds Chicago's only remaining cast iron facade, making it a rare example of this building method. This distinction led to its listing on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975 and Chicago Landmark status in 1983.
