Delaware Building

The Delaware Building is an office tower in Italianate style located in Chicago's Loop district with seven floors. Its facade features decorative cornices, arched windows, and detailed stone work that characterize the entire structure.

The building was constructed in 1874, shortly after Chicago's center was rebuilt following the Great Fire of 1871. Two additional floors were added in 1889, reflecting the growing demand for office space during that period.

The building displays the Italianate style that became fashionable in Chicago's business district during the late 1800s. Visitors can observe the ornate decorative elements and curved window openings that reflected the commercial identity of that era.

The building is located at the corner of West Randolph Street and serves as an office building today. Visitors can view the facade from the street and admire the preserved architectural details.

During renovations, three bays of the original Randolph Avenue facade were removed, reflecting how Chicago's building sites evolved over time. This alteration shows how historic structures are often adjusted to changing urban needs.
