The church was constructed in 1892 under the direction of architect Louis H. Giele to serve the Polish community who previously traveled to New York City.
The parish maintains the Polish heritage through multilingual services conducted in English, Polish, and Latin, connecting generations of families in Jersey City.
The church schedule includes daily masses, with confession available every Saturday from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM at 457 Monmouth Street.
St. Anthony of Padua received recognition from the National Register of Historic Places in 2004 and obtained a preservation grant of $40,000.
