St. Louis Modern Chinese School

St. Louis Modern Chinese School is a language center in Richmond Heights offering instruction in simplified Chinese characters and Pinyin romanization. The center teaches multiple age groups and proficiency levels through several daily class sessions.

The school was founded in 1997 by Chinese Americans from mainland China and grew rapidly from 40 initial students to over 700 learners within two decades. This growth reflected increasing demand for Chinese language instruction in the St. Louis region.

Students perform traditional Chinese art forms including fan dancing and martial arts at community venues like the Missouri Botanical Garden. These presentations connect language learning with cultural expression in ways visitors can see firsthand.

The center is located in Richmond Heights, making it convenient for students across the greater St. Louis area. Visitors should expect multiple course blocks throughout the day with different proficiency levels assigned to separate classrooms.

The school organized a Stop Asian Hate rally during the pandemic and raised nearly 100,000 dollars for relief efforts. This involvement shows the center serves as a place of community solidarity beyond just language instruction.
