Star Plaza Theatre, Music venue in Merrillville, United States.
Star Plaza Theatre was a two-level venue in Merrillville with a seating capacity of about 3,400 guests. The main floor held roughly 2,000 seats while the mezzanine level above provided about 1,400 additional seats for performances.
The theatre first opened in 1979 under the name Holiday Star Theatre and operated as a performance venue for roughly 38 years. It closed permanently following its final concert performance in 2017.
The venue served the region as a major destination for live entertainment and drew crowds from across the Chicago area for decades. It became a central gathering place where visitors experienced music and performances together throughout its years of operation.
The space was designed so that no seat was positioned too far from the stage, allowing all visitors to see performances clearly. This considerate layout meant every location in the hall offered a reasonable view of the action.
The venue was originally known as Holiday Star before later being renamed Star Plaza, marking a shift in how the facility was operated. This name change represented an important turning point in the building's management history.
